- Market to Market Spring 2012
Saturday, May 5th 2012
We are back (like Zombies) to support cyclists and general shoppers at the North Market end of the Market to Market ride on Saturday, May 5th. Start your ride at the North Market and know your bike will be secure while you register, pick up your ride shirt, and snack on a yummy breakfast. End your ride at the North Market and know your bike will be well protected while you use those cool coupons in your post ride shopping.
Want to volunteer to help protect bikes? This is by far the busiest small corral we host, making it one of the silliest to work, particularly if you are dressed like a pirate or a zombie. Click “Market to Market Spring 2012″ above. You’ll immediately see a list of open shifts. Volunteer, visit with cyclists, check out cool bikes and gear, and giggle with other volunteers while we dance the clever dance required as we run up and down the aisles in this tight corral.
- Columbus Arts Festival 2012
Friday, June 1st 2012, Saturday, June 2nd 2012, Sunday, June 3rd 2012
The 2012 Columbus Arts Festival starts at 11:30 on June 1. We're gonna be there. Are you?
Of course you are. You're even going to ride your bike to the Scioto Mile, where this magnificent festival featuring local and national artists is going to take place. There's going to be art, music, entertainment and activities for families, and most importantly, food.
Do you know why we make all the titles red? It has been proven by the God of Statistics that human beings click on red text 99.8% of the time.* In short, it's a clever trap to make you click on the title so that you will volunteer. If you do, you get to say "La, darling, I have been so busy supporting culture and arts in Columbus. I just don't know what to do with myself."
*Also proven by Statistics: cats click on green text 37.0% of the time, blue text 33.9% of the time, and yellow text the rest of the time. Why? Just to keep you guessing. Dogs click on red text, because they believe they are human. Fish don't click. That would be strange.
- Upper Arlington Arts Festival 2012
Monday, September 3rd 2012
The Upper Arlington Arts Festival attracts over 20,000 people every year and features 200 artists from all over the country. With 20,200 people, parking is going to be a new experience in pain rivaled only by football games and digging out your eyeballs with a spork, so be sure to ride your bike! This free event takes place on September 3, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Northam Park (2070 Northam Rd., Upper Arlington). The Pedal Instead corral is at the same location as last year (we strive for constancy as well as excellency, and frequently achieve both), just look for the blue fencing. Or, if you're that kind of person, you can plan ahead and look at the event map.
As for the event, it promises to be awesome once again. It's family friendly, with activities for little spawn at numerous family concession stands around the park. In addition to beautiful art, there will be performers, music, and of course, food (always an important consideration at Pedal Instead events, all that biking can make a person hungry).
Shift supervisors are needed to watch over (torment) the volunteers that will be provided by the festival. If you've volunteered before, come do it again! We'll feed you and provide hapless victims to boss around, it'll be a great time! Click the title in red above to see open shifts. Do it. Do it...
